The Unshakable Kingdom

Pastor Martin Saine finishes Hebrews 12 and begins 13 (Part 1) 6-9-24

Heb 12:22  But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, 

Heb 12:23  to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, 

Heb 12:24  to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel. 

Heb 12:25  See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven, 

Heb 12:26  whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, “YET ONCE MORE I SHAKE NOT ONLY THE EARTH, BUT ALSO HEAVEN.” 

Heb 12:27  Now this, “YET ONCE MORE,” indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain.

Heb 12:27  Now this, “YET ONCE MORE,” indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain.

Heb 12:28  Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken (asaleutos- unshaken, immovable, which cannot be moved),

Why are the heavens also shaken?  Because there are things in the spiritual realm that offend!

Job 1:6  Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them. 

Job 1:7  And the LORD said to Satan, “From where do you come?” So Satan answered the LORD and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.” 

Job 1:8  Then the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?” 

Dan 10:12  Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words. 

Dan 10:13  But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia. 

Dan 10:14  Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision refers to many days yet to come.” 

Dan 10:15  When he had spoken such words to me, I turned my face toward the ground and became speechless. 

Dan 10:16  And suddenly, one having the likeness of the sons of men touched my lips; then I opened my mouth and spoke, saying to him who stood before me, “My lord, because of the vision my sorrows have overwhelmed me, and I have retained no strength. 

Dan 10:17  For how can this servant of my lord talk with you, my lord? As for me, no strength remains in me now, nor is any breath left in me.” 

Dan 10:18  Then again, the one having the likeness of a man touched me and strengthened me. 

Dan 10:19  And he said, “O man greatly beloved, fear not! Peace be to you; be strong, yes, be strong!” So when he spoke to me I was strengthened, and said, “Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me.” 

Dan 10:20  Then he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? And now I must return to fight with the prince of Persia; and when I have gone forth, indeed the prince of Greece will come. 

Dan 10:21  But I will tell you what is noted in the Scripture of Truth. (No one upholds me against these, except Michael your prince. 

Rev 12:7  And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, 

Rev 12:8  but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. 

Rev 12:9  So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 

Rev 12:10  Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. 

Rev 12:11  And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. 

Rev 12:12  Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.” 

The spiritual realm (heaven) is shaken as thoroughly as the physical realm, and only that which does not defile will remain.

Matthew 25:41 tells us that the lake of fire was prepared for the devil and his angels, and that’s exactly where they’ll go when the heavens are shaken – OUT!

Revelation 21 & 22 shows us God’s Kingdom undefiled and untainted.

God’s throne, God’s Holy City, God’s planet, God’s heavens, God’s people, and God’s very presence dwelling among them are unshakable and eternal.

Everything that defiles and all those who do not love God (Triune), and all curses, are outside, contained, quarantined.

Hebrews builds the glorious picture of Jesus Christ, Our great High Priest, the author and finisher of our faith, the One who purchased and redeemed us by His blood, Faithful and True, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, and the one to whom all will give an account, ruling in a perfect kingdom for ever, with citizens who will never defect!

Chapter 13 is a practical application for Godly living in light of the unshakable Kingdom we are receiving, and really begins with Chapter 12:28…

Heb 12:28  Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken let us have (hold) grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. 

Heb 12:29  For our God is a consuming fire. 

Heb 13:1  Let brotherly love continue. 

John 13:31  So, when he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in Him. 

John 13:32  If God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, and glorify Him immediately. 

John 13:33  Little children, I shall be with you a little while longer. You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come,’ so now I say to you. 

John 13:34  A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 

John 13:35  By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” 

1Jn 3:13  Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you. 

1Jn 3:14  We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death. 

1Jn 3:15  Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. 

1Jn 3:16  By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 

1Jn 3:17  But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? 

1Jn 3:18  My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. 

1Jn 3:19  And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. 

Brotherly love is not contained to love those who do right by us, or among the family of God:

Mat 22:35  Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, 

Mat 22:36  “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” 

Mat 22:37  Jesus said to him, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’ 

Mat 22:38  This is the first and great commandment. 

Mat 22:39  And the second is like it: ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ 

Mat 22:40  On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” 

Luk 10:25  And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 

Luk 10:26  He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?” 

Luk 10:27  So he answered and said, “‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND,’ and ‘YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.'” 

Luk 10:28  And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.” 

Luk 10:29  But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 

Luk 10:30  Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 

Luk 10:31  Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 

Luk 10:32  Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. 

Luk 10:33  But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. 

Luk 10:34  So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 

Luk 10:35  On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’ 

Luk 10:36  So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?” 

Luk 10:37  And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.” 

It’s interesting that the practical application section (Chapter 13) begins with love.

We’ve discussed the eternal kingdom, our citizenship there by and through Jesus Christ, and the language of that kingdom is love!

Rom 8:38  For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 

Rom 8:39  nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. 

1Co 2:9  But as it is written: “EYE HAS NOT SEEN, NOR EAR HEARD, NOR HAVE ENTERED INTO THE HEART OF MAN THE THINGS WHICH GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM.” 

Eph 2:4  But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 

Eph 2:5  even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 

Eph 2:6  and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 

Eph 2:7  that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 

Eph 2:8  For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 

Eph 2:9  not of works, lest anyone should boast. 

Eph 2:10  For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. 

1Jn 4:7  Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 

1Jn 4:8  He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 

1Jn 4:9  In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 

1Jn 4:10  In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 

1Jn 4:11  Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 

1Jn 4:15  Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 

1Jn 4:16  And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. 

1Jn 4:17  Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. 

1Jn 4:18  There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 

1Jn 4:19  We love Him because He first loved us. 

1Jn 4:20  If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? 

1Jn 4:21  And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also. 

1Jn 5:1  Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. 

1Jn 5:2  By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 

1Jn 5:3  For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 

1Jn 5:4  For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 

1Jn 5:5  Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 

1Co 13:1  Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 

1Co 13:2  And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 

1Co 13:3  And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. 

1Co 13:4  Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 

1Co 13:5  does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 

1Co 13:6  does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 

1Co 13:7  bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 

1Co 13:8  Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 

1Co 13:9  For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 

1Co 13:10  But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away. 

1Co 13:11  When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 

1Co 13:12  For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. 

1Co 13:13  And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
