Perfectly Kept Promises

God’s promises cannot be broken or He would not be the God of truth, mercy, and hope.  If God’s Word could be broken, then He would no longer be a truthful God and therefore should not be trusted.  “For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory” (2 Corinthians 1:20).  However, ALL the promises of God have been fulfilled in Jesus and therefore we can put our full trust in Him in every aspect of our lives.

Now I say that Jesus Christ has become a servant to the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made to the fathers,  and that the Gentiles might glorify God for His mercy, as it is written:

“For this reason I will confess to You among the Gentiles, And sing to Your name.”

And again he says: “Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people!”

And again: “Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles! Laud Him, all you peoples!”

And again, Isaiah says: “There shall be a root of Jesse; And He who shall rise to reign over the Gentiles, In Him the Gentiles shall hope.”

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.  (Romans 15:8-13)

God made a promise to humanity in Genesis that He would send a Savior.

So the Lord God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field; on your belly you shall go, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.” (Genesis 3:14–15)

This promise, this prophecy, came to pass when Jesus Christ was born, served and lived a perfect life, died a brutal death and rose again victoriously.

The entire human race is included in this promise, but it is a choice that each of us must make to accept the promise, believing on the Lord Jesus Christ and therefore receiving salvation.  The promise came through a Jewish carpenter, Jesus Christ, and is given to all who call upon His name.  “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28).

God will fill us with joy and peace when we believe on Jesus, for He is the God of hope and and promise.  Romans 15:13 tells us that the God of hope (that is expectation, trust, confidence), completely fills us with every kind of joy and peace in believing (having faith in), that is exceeding the ordinary (the necessary), abounding, and overflowing hope that comes by the power of the Holy Spirit.

This too is a promise and one that is sure as it is given by the God of all truth!
