Darkness and the Great River Revelation 16 Part III

Revelation 16

Darkness- skotoo, verb tense of skotia- to become dark, obscured, gloomy, be full of darkness.  This tense is used only here in all of Scripture… The Bible has some interesting (and surprising) things to say about darkness. Here’s the real take away: Every interaction between man and God since the fall of man in the garden has the same facets: The horror of darkness on one hand, and the light of Salvation on the other. How do we resolve this with God’s nature (God IS love- 1John 4:8)?

Dan 2:22 He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, And light dwells with Him. IN Him is light, life, and love.

OUTSIDE of Him is darkness, horror, torment.

2Th 1:6-10 since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you, and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed. Choose wisely!

“The Great River” Rev 16:12 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. Supernaturally dried up to prepare the forces from the East…

Rev 16:13-14 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. These demons are so deceptive and powerful they convince the nations to gather together for war despite their sores, pain of darkness, and continuing calamity.

Remember the time table: Rev 15:1 Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous: seven angels having the seven last plagues, for in them the wrath of God is complete. Seven last plagues, Battle of Armageddon, Return of Jesus with the church where He defends Israel and defeats the forces of darkness; includes destruction of all who have taken the mark or worshipped the beast. Gathering of the Elect (Israel)by His angels, Gathering of the tares (the lost) by His angels, What we see in Chapters 17-19 are details of this final segment.
