God authenticates His message, His word, His plan for Salvation through the miracles Jesus performed, the resurrection of Jesus, and through prophesying the end from the beginning. Hundreds and thousands of years before the events happened!!!
The question is why is prophecy important?
Remember the former things of old, For I [am] God, and [there is] no other; [I am] God, and [there is] none like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times [things] that are not [yet] done, Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,’ Isaiah 46:9-10
Like the miracles that Jesus performed, which authenticated who Jesus was, is, and who sent Him. Bible prophecy authenticates the Word of God. Prophecy establishes the fact of who God is and authenticates God’s plan of redemption.
Here is a bold statement, there is no other holy book or religious book that can tell the end from beginning!!!
RESURRECTION 2022
Notes from Jerry Mongello March 13, 2022
Jesus in Prophecy, John 10:1-33
As we go through the book of Genesis, we have seen the awesome power of God Almighty’s who speak the universe into existence. As great and awesome as the creation was, God’s word speaks very little about creation when you compare it to the birth, ministry, death, resurrection of Jesus, and second coming of Christ to put into one word REDEMPTION.
The awesome God Almighty who created everything has the ability to send us the message of redemption which is the Gospel, the Bible, the whole Bible and authenticate it. God authenticates His message, His word, His plan for Salvation through the miracles Jesus perform, resurrection of Jesus and through the prophesying end from the beginning. Hundreds and thousands of years before the events happen!!!
[Isaiah 46:5-10 NKJV] 5 “To whom will you liken Me, and make [Me] equal And compare Me, that we should be alike? 6 They lavish gold out of the bag, And weigh silver on the scales; They hire a goldsmith, and he makes it a god; They prostrate themselves, yes, they worship. 7 They bear it on the shoulder, they carry it And set it in its place, and it stands; From its place it shall not move. Though [one] cries out to it, yet it cannot answer Nor save him out of his trouble. 8 “Remember this, and show yourselves men; Recall to mind, O you transgressors. 9 Remember the former things of old, For I [am] God, and [there is] no other; [I am] God, and [there is] none like Me, 10 Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times [things] that are not [yet] done, Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,’
- The question is why is prophecy important?
Like the miracles that Jesus performed, which authenticated who Jesus was, is, and who sent Him. Bible prophecy authenticates the word of God. Prophecy establishes the fact who God is and authenticates God’s plan of redemption. Here is a bold statement, there is no other holy book or religious book that can tell the end from beginning!!!
In fact there are over 25% close to 30% of the Bible is prophecy. The amazing thing about Jesus’s birth, ministry, death, and resurrection is that it is the fulfillment in 356 Prophecies fulfilled in Jesus Christ first coming. These prophecies are unlike anything there ever was, they are not Nostradamus prophecies which are vague and can mean anything or like one that you find in horoscopes that really tell you nothing except for what you want to hear.
Why is prophecy important, like the prophecy found in Daniel 9:20 thru 27, which we will be getting into in more detail on Palm Sunday. The Jewish nation was held accountable for not knowing Bible prophecy i.e. knowing when Messiah the Prince would appear! Likewise, humanity will be held accountable for not believing in and/or being ready for the second coming of Jesus. What are these possible consequences?
Prophecy is more than predicting the future
- These prophetic words have a near fulfillment and a far fulfillment.
- These messages from God conflicted comfortable and comforted the afflicted.
- Pastor Martin taught on Jesus being The Son of Man / The Son of God. Jesus is fully man and fully God who has the same abilities as God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus is God in fresh He is also a Prophet and I would say greatest the Prophet!!!
[Deuteronomy 18:15-22 NKJV] 15 “The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear, 16 “according to all you desired of the LORD your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, ‘Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, nor let me see this great fire anymore, lest I die.’ 17 “And the LORD said to me: ‘What they have spoken is good. 18 ‘I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. 19 ‘And it shall be [that] whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name, I will require [it] of him. 20 ‘But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.’ 21 “And if you say in your heart, ‘How shall we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?’– 22 “when a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that [is] the thing which the LORD has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.
- All prophecies come through Jesus!!!
[Revelation 19:9-10 NKJV] 9 Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed [are] those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’ ” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.” 10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See [that you do] not [do that]! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
[1Peter 1:10-12 NKJV] 10 Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace [that would come] to you, 11 searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. 12 To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven–things which angels desire to look into.
[2Peter 1:19-21 NKJV] 19 And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; 20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, 21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke [as they were] moved by the Holy Spirit.
- Bible prophecy is about Jesus!!!
[1Corinthians 15:1-4 NKJV] 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you–unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,
Of course Paul mentioned scriptures he was speaking about the Old Testament.
In Jesus’s words:
[John 5:37-40 NKJV] 37 “And the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. 38 “But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe. 39 “You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. 40 “But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.
This Psalm prophecies the very thing.
[Psalm 40:6-8 NKJV] 6 Sacrifice and offering You did not desire; My ears You have opened. Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require. 7 Then I said, “Behold, I come; In the scroll of the book [it is] written of me. 8 I delight to do Your will, O my God, And Your law [is] within my heart.”
[Hebrews 10:7 NKJV] 7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come–In the volume of the book it is written of Me–To do Your will, O God.’ “
- You can find prophecy about Jesus in most of the books of the Bible, if not all the books of the Bible.
[Proverb 30:1-6 NKJV] 1 The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, [his] utterance. This man declared to Ithiel–to Ithiel and Ucal: 2 Surely I [am] more stupid than [any] man, And do not have the understanding of a man. 3 I neither learned wisdom Nor have knowledge of the Holy One. 4 Who has ascended into heaven, or descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has bound the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What [is] His name, and what [is] His Son’s name, If you know? 5 Every word of God [is] pure; He [is] a shield to those who put their trust in Him. 6 Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.
- In John chapter 10 Jesus demonstrates His divinity with the ability to prophesied future events, like Matthew 24 where Jesus prophesied the destruction of the temple and end times tribulation period. Likewise, in Luke 21:20 Jesus prophecies about the destruction of Jerusalem & the temple.
[John 10:1-33 NKJV] 1 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 2 “But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 “To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 “And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.
[1Thessalonians 4:16-18 NKJV] 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
5 “Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.” 6 Jesus used this illustration, but they did not understand the things which He spoke to them. 7 Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 “All who [ever] came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. 9 “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have [it] more abundantly. 11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. 12 “But a hireling, [he who is] not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. [Satan has crept to our churches to scatter the sheep and has crept into Judaism as well to scatter those sheep too.] 13 “The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep. 14 “I am the good shepherd; and I know My [sheep], and am known by My own. 15 “As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. 16 “And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; then also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock [and] one shepherd. [Jesus is speaking about the Church and the millennium where we will be one, not the same but one.] 17 “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. 18 “No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.” [ Jesus prophesies about His death and resurrection] 19 Therefore there was a division again among the Jews because of these sayings. 20 And many of them said, “He has a demon and is mad. Why do you listen to Him?” 21 Others said, “These are not the words of one who has a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?” 22 Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter. 23 And Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon’s porch. 24 Then the Jews surrounded Him and said to Him, “How long do You keep us in doubt? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.” 25 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me. 26 “But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. 27 “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 “And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 “My Father, who has given [them] to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch [them] out of My Father’s hand. 30 “I and [My] Father are one.” 31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him. 32 Jesus answered them, “Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?” 33 The Jews answered Him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.”
- Prophecies of the Birth of Jesus
[Isaiah 7:14 NKJV] 14 “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. Fulfilled Matthew 1:22 & Luke 2:7
[Mic 5:2 NKJV]
[Jeremiah 31:15 NKJV] 15 Thus says the LORD: “A voice was heard in Ramah, Lamentation [and] bitter weeping, Rachel weeping for her children, Refusing to be comforted for her children, Because they [are] no more.”
- Prophecies concerning Miracles
[Luke 7:22 NKJV] 22 Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that [the] blind see, [the] lame walk, [the] lepers are cleansed, [the] deaf hear, [the] dead are raised, [the] poor have the gospel preached to them.
[Psalm 146:8-9 NKJV] 8 The LORD opens [the eyes of] the blind; The LORD raises those who are bowed down; The LORD loves the righteous. 9 The LORD watches over the strangers; He relieves the fatherless and widow; But the way of the wicked He turns upside down.
[Isaiah 35:5-6 NKJV] 5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. 6 Then the lame shall leap like a deer, And the tongue of the dumb sing. For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness, And streams in the desert.
Prophecies of Jesus being Betrayed
[Psalm 41:9 NKJV] 9 Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up [his] heel against me.
[John 13:18-19 NKJV] 18 “I do not speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.’ 19 “Now I tell you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe that I am [He].
Jesus being sold for Thirty Pieces of Silver and the money being used for a potter field.
[Zechariah 11:12-13 NKJV] 12 Then I said to them, “If it is agreeable to you, give [me] my wages; and if not, refrain.” So they weighed out for my wages thirty [pieces] of silver. 13 And the LORD said to me, “Throw it to the potter”–that princely price they set on me. So I took the thirty [pieces] of silver and threw them into the house of the LORD for the potter.
Fulfilled in Matthew 26:15 & Mathew 27:7
- Prophecies of the Suffering/Beating/Scourging of Jesus
[Isaiah 50:6-7 NKJV] 6 I gave My back to those who struck [Me], And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting. 7 “For the Lord GOD will help Me; Therefore I will not be disgraced; Therefore I have set My face like a flint, And I know that I will not be ashamed.
[Isaiah 52:13-15 NKJV] 13 Behold, My Servant shall deal prudently; He shall be exalted and extolled and be very high. 14 Just as many were astonished at you, So His visage was marred more than any man, And His form more than the sons of men; 15 So shall He sprinkle many nations. Kings shall shut their mouths at Him; For what had not been told them they shall see, And what they had not heard they shall consider.
Fulfilled
[Mathew 27:28-31 NKJV]
[Luke 22:41-44 NKJV] 41 And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” 43 Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. 44 And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
- Prophecies of the Death/Crucifixion of Jesus
[Psalm 22:1-31 NKJV] 1 To the Chief Musician. Set to “The Deer of the Dawn.” A Psalm of David. My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? [Why are You so] far from helping Me, [And from] the words of My groaning? 2 O My God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear; And in the night season, and am not silent. 3 But You [are] holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel. 4 Our fathers trusted in You; They trusted, and You delivered them. 5 They cried to You, and were delivered; They trusted in You, and were not ashamed. 6 But I [am] a worm, and no man; A reproach of men, and despised by the people. 7 All those who see Me ridicule Me; They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, [saying], 8 “He trusted in the LORD, let Him rescue Him; Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!” 9 But You [are] He who took Me out of the womb; You made Me trust [while] on My mother’s breasts. 10 I was cast upon You from birth. From My mother’s womb You [have been] My God. 11 Be not far from Me, For trouble [is] near; For [there is] none to help. 12 Many bulls have surrounded Me; Strong [bulls] of Bashan have encircled Me. 13 They gape at Me [with] their mouths, [Like] a raging and roaring lion. 14 I am poured out like water, And all My bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It has melted within Me. 15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd, And My tongue clings to My jaws; You have brought Me to the dust of death. 16 For dogs have surrounded Me; The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me. They pierced My hands and My feet; 17 I can count all My bones. They look [and] stare at Me. 18 They divide My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots. 19 But You, O LORD, do not be far from Me; O My Strength, hasten to help Me! 20 Deliver Me from the sword, My precious [life] from the power of the dog. 21 Save Me from the lion’s mouth And from the horns of the wild oxen! You have answered Me. 22 I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will praise You. 23 You who fear the LORD, praise Him! All you descendants of Jacob, glorify Him, And fear Him, all you offspring of Israel! 24 For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; Nor has He hidden His face from Him; But when He cried to Him, He heard. 25 My praise [shall be] of You in the great assembly; I will pay My vows before those who fear Him. 26 The poor shall eat and be satisfied; Those who seek Him will praise the LORD. Let your heart live forever! 27 All the ends of the world Shall remember and turn to the LORD, And all the families of the nations Shall worship before You. 28 For the kingdom [is] the LORD’s, And He rules over the nations. 29 All the prosperous of the earth Shall eat and worship; All those who go down to the dust Shall bow before Him, Even he who cannot keep himself alive. 30 A posterity shall serve Him. It will be recounted of the Lord to the [next] generation, 31 They will come and declare His righteousness to a people who will be born, That He has done [this].
The earliest historical record of crucifixion dates 519 BC, when King Darius I of Persia crucified 3,000 of his political enemies in Babylon. Psalm 22 written around 1044 BC, 525 years before crucifixion was invented.

- Prophecies of the Resurrection of Jesus
[Psalm 16:9-11 NKJV] 9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope. 10 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. 11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence [is] fullness of joy; At Your right hand [are] pleasures forevermore.
[Psalm 110:1 NKJV] 1 A Psalm of David. The LORD said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”
[Hebrew 1:1-3 NKJV] 1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by [His] Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3 who being the brightness of [His] glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
Jesus in Future Prophecy
[Acts 1:9-11 NKJV] 9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This [same] Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”
[Revelation 21:1-8 NKJV] 1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God [is] with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them [and be] their God. 4 “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” 5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” 6 And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. 7 “He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8 “But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
