Behold! He Comes!

Behold! He Comes!

Christmas, what does that bring to mind? Pastor Martin Saine asked. Waiting for Jesus…anticipation! For Christians, Christmas is one of remembrance, it is a day of thanks! 2000 years of remembrance for Christians, but prior to Christ’s birth there was 4000 years of waiting. Two-thirds of human history was waiting for the Messiah, only one-third of human history has been one of remembrance of Jesus’ birth.

Christmas began long before the birth of Christ.

Genesis 1:26-27 ” Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over [g]all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”

God had the cross in His mind when He created Adam and Eve, as He knew they would sin and it would have to be paid for. He had the plan of Christmas already set in motion.

Genesis 49:10-11 The [a]scepter shall not depart from Judah, Nor a lawgiver from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes; And to Him shall be the obedience of the people. 11 Binding his donkey to the vine, And his donkey’s colt to the choice vine, He washed his garments in wine, And his clothes in the blood of grapes.

Throughout the Old Testament, God spoke about Jesus coming as the Messiah.

Numbers 24:17 “I see Him, but not now; I behold Him, but not near; A Star shall come out of Jacob; A Scepter shall rise out of Israel, And [a]batter the brow of Moab, And destroy all the sons of [b]tumult.

Hebrews 1:8 But to the Son He says: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A [a]scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. Jesus is found on every page of the Word.
